Meet the Focus Genetics board

Andrew MacPherson


BVSc, MBA (dist), FNZIM

Andrew was most recently the General Manager – Commercial Development at Landcorp Farming Group and has been a member of the Focus Genetics Board since the formation of the company in 2012. He was appointed as Chair mid-2017.

Previously he has had a number of CEO roles including AgVax Developments Ltd, Canesis Network Ltd, Intervet New Zealand Ltd and Nimmo-Bell & Company Ltd. Andrew is a director of Focus Genetics and a former director of AgResearch Ltd, Animal Health Board Inc, Johne’s Disease Research Consortium and Equestrian Sports New Zealand Inc and the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium.

Steve McJorrow



Steve was appointed to the board in 2017.  He is the Chief Financial Officer for Landcorp Farming Limited and has a strong range of skills and experience in finance, strategy development and private equity. He has held financial leadership roles in various companies including CFO of the Bennelong Group, a large Australian private equity firm, Group Financial Controller of AWB (Australian Wheat Board), Head of Decision Support for the National Australia Bank Retail Banking Division (Melbourne), and for Personal Financial Services, Bank of New Zealand (Auckland).

Scottie Chapman


Scottie joined the Focus Genetics Board in 2014. Scottie is CEO and Director of Spring Sheep Dairy which is developing a Sheep Dairy brand in NZ from the international consumer back. Previous to this Scottie founded SLC Group, a boutique investment and strategic support company and before this, owned a cider company which he sold to Heineken. While formally trained in marketing and management, Scotties passion is designing and enthusiastically implementing international sales strategies.

He has worked in leadership roles within both large corporates and as an owner of his own highly successful businesses. Scottie also spent 13 years in Asia working primarily for NZ F&B / Agribusiness companies in the Asian region. Scottie sees his role at Focus as making sure our farmer clients clearly get the messages in regards to how our genetics can add value to their operations.

Sarah Park


Sarah was appointed to the Focus Genetics Board in 2015. She has a degree in Economics from the University of Edinburgh. Sarah has a good executive pedigree gained from working in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Capital Markets teams at HSBC Investment Bank (UK) and the PwC (NZ) and in the venture capital arena in the US and Asia.

A strong foundational executive career has progressed into multiple roles in governance in New Zealand.  Areas of experience and interest include infrastructure, biotech, genetics, agriculture, wine and viticulture, media, innovation, capital markets, M&A and Audit & Risk.

Along with her directorship at Focus Genetics Partnership Ltd, Sarah also sits on the boards of HBAL  and Eurogrow Potatoes Ltd and is a trustee on the Hereworth School Trust Board. She is also the Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee for HBAL and Focus Genetics.
