Dr. Lucy Coleman

ANIMAL BREEDING SCIENTIST - SHEEP (PhD, MSc, BSc)

Lucy manages the genetic breeding programmes for the Pamu Maternal Genetics Flocks and the three Spring Sheep Dairy Genetics flocks, as well as assisting with the fine wool and hair sheep research programmes.


Born and raised on a sheep and beef farm in Tararua, and holding a PhD in dairy beef research, Lucy has over 11 years experience in animal science research at Massey University across young stock rearing and breeding animals to the finishing, carcass and meat quality of Sheep, Beef cattle, Dairy and Dairy-Beef cattle. This indepth knowledge, her eagerness to understand evolving aspects of our industry and her ability to communicate research to a variety of audiences enable her to have a positive impact in improving and future-proofing animal production in New Zealand.
