Dr Andy Pearce has chaired the Focus Genetics Board since the formation of the company in 2012.
Andy is also Chairman of Hawke’s Bay Regional Investment Company Ltd, and is a director of the Bank of New Zealand and Christchurch City Holdings Ltd. Past directorships include Canesis Networks Ltd, Keratec Ltd, Migco Pharmaceuticals Ld, Ngai Tahu Group, Wool Equities Ltd and the Wool Research Organisation of NZ Inc. Dr Pearce was the founding Chief Executive of Landcare Research New Zealand Ltd from 1992 to 2005.

Andrew is the General Manager – Commercial Development at Landcorp Farming Group. He has been a member of the Focus Genetics Board since the formation of the company in 2012.
Previously he has had a number of CEO roles including AgVax Developments Ltd, Canesis Network Ltd, Intervet New Zealand Ltd and Nimmo-Bell & Company Ltd. Andrew is a director of Focus Genetics and a former director of AgResearch Ltd, Animal Health Board Inc, Johne’s Disease Research Consortium and Equestrian Sports New Zealand Inc and the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium.
Scottie joined the Focus Genetics Board in 2014. Scottie is CEO and Director of Spring Sheep Dairy which is developing a Sheep Dairy brand in NZ from the international consumer back. Previous to this Scottie founded SLC Group, a boutique investment and strategic support company and before this, owned a cider company which he sold to Heineken. While formally trained in marketing and management, Scotties passion is designing and enthusiastically implementing international sales strategies.
He has worked in leadership roles within both large corporates and as an owner of his own highly successful businesses. Scottie also spent 13 years in Asia working primarily for NZ F&B / Agribusiness companies in the Asian region. Scottie sees his role at Focus as making sure our farmer clients clearly get the messages in regards to how our genetics can add value to their operations.
Sarah was appointed to the Focus Genetics Board in 2015 and is also a director of Hawkes Bay Airport. She has a degree in Economics from Edinburgh University and has 15 years’ experience in the financial services sector. She has expert knowledge in business model development, project evaluation, valuations, and transaction advisory, financing and capital markets. She has worked for large financial institutions including HSBC and PwC as well as public and private growth companies. She has in-depth knowledge of business models across a range of industries including wine, pip-fruit biotechnology and media in NZ, USA and UK. She is a member of the Institute of Directors and holds their certificate in Company Direction.
Sarah is passionate about improving the quality of life in Hawke’s Bay for all who live in the region. A love of fine wine and sunshine brought her to live in the Hawke’s Bay with her husband for 6 months in 2003 and she has not left. As a mother to two young boys she is fully invested in using her skills and energy for the benefit of the region and beyond.
